Health and Safety Information
In light of the heightened concern about the Avian Flu, students abroad should regularly check this information provided by the Centers for Disease Control. Additionally, for some historical background and information that is more tailored to college students, see this page at Amherst College.
While travel to foreign countries is generally safe, it is important to recognize that certain risks will be present. Local customs and laws are not necessarily the same as in the United States, so prior to traveling abroad, be sure to fully research laws and potential safety risks for your destination(s).
The U.S. Department of State maintains a travel information website for Americans, including travel warnings. You should always consult the State Department website before traveling to any foreign country to obtain the latest travel updates, including during planned vacations while away.

SAFETI Website (Safety Abroad First Educational Travel Information). The Center for Global Education hosts a government-sponsored website, which contains a wealth of resources on issues of health and safety for any student considering or participating in a study abroad program.
The Centers for Disease Control hosts this site, which can help you ensure that you have the necessary immunizations. The CDC website also lists any health risks present in your destination country.
